The Manger
Vegetable Tunnel Project
The Manger Care Centre has seven organic
vegetable tunnels where we produce our own spinach. Each tunnel
contains approximately 1400 spinach plants. We are also
developing a whole new series of tunnels along with a packing
shed and a germination table.
How this works:
·
Various organizations supply the
spinach seedlings to us We then feed and nourish the
seedling to fully grown plants. Once the spinach is ready to be
harvested, we cut the leaves as close to the stem as possible.
We then take the spinach leaves and wash them to make sure the
product is up to standard. The spinach is then packaged and
rechecked to see if everything is fine. We distribute the
product which is then sold on our behalf.
This project is in need of the following assistance:
·
We would appreciate any
financial assistance or donations regarding the building of
additional tunnels.
·
We need to install an in
line drip irrigation system.
·
Donations of seedlings and
other materials for this project.
